The University of Alabama Student Center employs many student staff, and it is a great place to work. The following are brief descriptions of the student jobs at the student center:
Building Manager:
provides overall assistance to The University of Alabama Student Center and its customers while providing the best service possible
aid in the processing and proper filing of all paperwork and other office duties essential to the department functions
assists in the management of day-to-day operations and events on Ferguson grounds
has a thorough understanding and knowledge of The University of Alabama Student Center programs/events, the role it plays at the University and the services it provides.
responsible for opening and closing the building
supervises other student positions
Conference Coordinator:
responsible for completing the majority of the building and event set-ups and breakdowns, including moving furniture, furniture carts, stage pieces, audio-visual equipment and more
serves as Information Desk Attendants which include responsibilities for the daily operation of the information desk including a good working knowledge of current and upcoming events.
collects lost and found items, provide campus directions, and welcome guests to the Ferguson Student Center
upholds strong customer service standards for dress, greetings, phone calls, and expedient customer response
supports emergency response processes as needed by the building manager
Event Assistant:
provides reception and assistance to the Reservations Office, including managing phone calls and emails
processes reservation requests, requiring in-depth training of online event management system
assist students and campus partners with planning of meetings and events when needed
utilizes event planning software to create unique diagrams of event spaces
upholds strong customer service standards for dress, greetings, phone calls, and expedient customer response
assists with special events as needed
Technical Service Assistant:
responsible for providing and maintaining hardware and software support for The University of Alabama Student Center administrative staff and event equipment reserved through the Ferguson Center Reservations Office
troubleshoots hardware/software issues related to The University of Alabama Student Center audio visual equipment
sets, manages and breaks down event audiovisual equipment (e.g. projectors, sound systems, mobile AV carts, microphones, etc.) reserved through the Student Center
available for technical assistance to Student Center staff
provides in-person, continued assistance for presentations and performances requiring technology in large event spaces
